4. Click on
Show: Internal Modem. The first thing you'll see are the PPP settings. The "Service Provider" field is optional. The "Account Name" should be the dialup account name (Note: this is different than your email account name). In the "Password" field, type in the Saturna Network Co-op password you were given (this is different from your email password). In the "Telephone Number" field, type in 250 539-2240. Check "Save password" if you don't want to input your password every time you connect. Next, click on the "PPP Options" button.

5. The "PPP Options" displays advanced options you may want to set. The window will look something like the illustration below. The first option, "Connect automatically when needed" is not checked by default. If you are using dial-up only (and not broadband), check this box if you want the modem to dial automatically whenever you click on your email or browser software. If you use broadband and only occasionally dial-up, don't check this box. Click "
OK" when you're finished setting up the PPP options.

6. Click the "
TCP/IP" tab. The "Configure IPv4" should be set to "Using PPP." The IP Address, Subnet Mask, Router and DNS Servers will be automatically assigned when you connect to the internet. If you were given DNS Server numbers, type them into the box.

7. Now click on the "Proxies" tab. Your screen should look like the illustration below. Saturna Net Co-op does not run any proxies that need to be accounted for.

8. Click on the "
Modem" tab next. Your screen should look something like the illustration below. Make sure you have the correct modem type selected (most Macs have an internet Apple 56k (v.90) modem). Change this setting if you're using a different modem type. Now click the "Apply Now" button at the bottom right of the window to save all your settings. You should now be able to connect to the internet.
