Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
If you're connecting wirelessly through AirPort, please make sure that you've set up your wireless router or base station before proceeding.
If you have your computer set to display the AirPort status in your menu bar at the top right of your screen and it is on and active, you may already be connected to the internet via AirPort. The symbol will look like this if it is active:

If AirPort is not active or is turned off, the symbol will look like the illustration below. To turn AirPort on, click on the symbol and select "Turn AirPort On" from the drop down menu.

(Note: If you don't have an AirPort symbol in your menu bar as illustrated above, you'll need to open "Internet Connect" from your Applications folder and click on "AirPort." Then click the button next to "AirPort Power" and turn it on. Also, check the box "Show AirPort status in menu bar.")

You can also access Internet Connect by clicking on the AirPort status menu item and choosing it from the drop down menu. Do this now and turn AirPort On if it is off. Your screen should look something like the illustration below. The "Signal Level" should display in blue. A strong signal will fill up all the markers. The button next to "Network" will likely display "default." If you want to name your connection something, click on the button and choose "other" where you'll be presented with options. The "Network" button is also where you can set up security for your wireless connection. Check to make sure you haven't already set up security through your wireless router. If so, follow the manufacturers instructions on setting up your computer's security.

Close the Internet Connect window and start surfing!
